About EWRI
The English Word Reform Initiative is a global, community-driven movement to modernize the English language for the 21st century.
01. The Problem
English is the world's lingua franca, yet it carries the baggage of centuries of inconsistent evolution. Why is there a "g" in "sign" but not in "shine"? Why does "rough", "through", and "dough" sound completely different? These inconsistencies create unnecessary barriers for learners and inefficiencies for daily users.
02. Our Vision
We envision a future where English spelling is intuitive, phonetic, and logical. We believe that language should serve its users, not confuse them. By optimizing spelling, we can:
- Reduce learning time for children and non-native speakers.
- Eliminate spelling errors and the reliance on autocorrect.
- Preserve the beauty of the language while removing its rust.
03. How It Works
EWRI is not a top-down academy. We are a decentralized platform where anyone can propose a reform. Proposals are debated, voted on, and scored based on our 6-Dimensional Radar System. Only the most rational and popular changes rise to the top.
